24 Christmas Memories – 19

24 Christmas Memories – 19

Welcome to day 19!

Today… a little bit of a hodge-podge, with a couple of memories on deck, including the first of a couple posts featuring a VIP…

… but I don’t want to get ahead of myself.

Is this first Christmas Memory post you’re seeing?
You can get caught up by starting back on
day 1 to understand this year’s theme.

Funny little Santa decorations

A Quad of Fun Memories

  • The I’ve mentioned it before on the blog, but funny memory #1 involves these little ladder-climbing Santas. They’re far smaller than life-sized so I don’t quite get why people hang them outside of upstairs windows here… it’s like Santa is burglarizing their house. 😂
  • This was the year that we – very sneakily – published Sophie’s 3 novels without her knowing. Lemme explain… She had been working on them for about 2 years and, if memory served me correctly, the process has stalled a bit and we wanted to give her a boost, so we “pre-published” them on Amazon and got her an author copy of each volume so that she could see what it felt to hold them in her hands. Needless to say… it was a great gift!
  • The fact that real, live mistletoe grows on trees here (including on our church property) never gets old. I was picking some for decoration and called Liz out into the yard…. where I was just standing non-chalantly… under a giant ball of mistletoe. Fun!
  • Now for our VIP… This was the year that my mom spent Christmas with us. There are a number of treasured memories associated with her visit, but for today, I’ll just share this one. It was Christmas Day and somewhere between gifting, breakfasting and turkey-dinnering… we took advantage of a beautiful day and went for a walk along the old rail-line-turned-walking/biking-trail.

Thank you sharing this memory and…
