So the title of today’s post is, admittedly, a little bit tongue-in-cheek, because no one knows the number of days that the Lord has granted us, but one speaks one’s hopes.
Even at that, I’d be happy if we WEREN’T even half-way there yet. Perhaps the Lord will grant us many, MANY more years… who knows?
But I get ahead of myself…
Prayer Walking Our Region

Our goal as a local church, since January 2023, has been to prayer-walk through the 266 communities of the Vienne Department (in France, a department is the equivalent of a province or a state).
During the summer months, we take one Sunday per month and replace our normally scheduled Sunday service with a morning or prayer walking, followed by a pic-nic, for those who are able to attend.
Last weekend, while we had several people away, we also had guests – the Brochus as well as Pastor & Mrs Michael LaBrie (Gospel Tabernacle, Beaumont Texas).
As of today, we’ve prayed in 81 of the 266 communities… approximately 1/3.
July 26th … a Big Day for Paris

For the first time in the history of the modern Olympic Games, the opening ceremony was not held in a stadium. In stead, the entire city became the stadium and the show took place over a 6km span of the Seine River.
If you get a chance to see reruns of any footage… I recommend watching the spectacle! One of the moments that moved me was when the Olympic torch-bearers passed the torch to a very elderly and a wheelchair-bound former olympian. What a great way to honour previous generations of athletes.
July 26th … a Big Day for Us
Even bigger than the Olympics, yesterday was our 27th wedding anniversary.
In many ways it was a low-key day. I had several hours of teaching to do after which we went out for a coffee date at our favourite ChΓ’tellerault tea room – Citron et Cerise – ran an errand or two, then came back to watch the opening ceremonies from the comfort of our living room. (A good thing too… in Paris, it was raining cats and dogs… yet the show went on!)
That being said, we’re headed out today for a few days away. Tomorrow we’ll be ministering at the church in Bourges then Monday we’ll head to the little getaway cottage that we discovered back in March for Liz’s birthday.
I’m struck by the goodness of God and the stability of a long-term marriage – increasingly rare in the world we live in – certainly in France. My students always grow wide-eyed when I mention how long we’ve been married. I daresay the majority of them come from broken homes. God is good and is an indispensable part of our 3-strand cord.

Thanks for stopping by today.
Let what you read fuel your prayers for us and for France.
God bless you & yours!
Congratulations on your anniversary we are 44 yrs and counting π
Well yay! and congratulations! This is a rare blessing, indeed! May all your years be happy. Michele
