#3GoodThings – #9

Just as a reminder for those who may wonder about my posting daily all of a sudden… “Why am I doing this again?”

All too often, people craft their online image to be heavily weighted on the positive side. This gives an unbalanced view and likely contributes to feelings of anxiety among their friends who then feel pressure to keep up with all the goodness happening around them.

That is NOT what these #3GoodThings posts are about. They are simply a way of keeping me accountable to focus on more of the positives in my life where I can otherwise, very easily, tend to focus (internally) on the negatives. More than just “positive thinking” or “positive psychology”, it’s also Biblical:

“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable… if anything is excellent or praiseworthy, think about such things.”
Philippians 4.8

They say that if you make a concerted daily effort, over a prolonged time, to look for positive things in your life, that you teach your brain to look for them unconsciously… as a reflex. I need to move more in that direction.
