Since the last time we visited, Western France had its 4-5 days of blistering hot weather.
Many parts of the world, and many parts of southern France have struggled with abnormally hot temperatures for much of the summer, but honestly, we can’t complain. Temperatures for most of July & August likely averaged in the 23-26˚C range (quite reasonable), but we did have a spell of 36-37˚C weather the week before last.
It means sleeping above the covers, with the fan running all night, and keeping the shutters closed for most of the day. It’s remarkable what a difference it makes.
The one thing I miss about home at times like that is the absence of standardized screens on all the windows, allowing a cool breeze to come through all night. We have makeshift screens on some of the windows, but they’re not entirely bug-proof!
Craig & Lyna Sully,
Missionaries to Senegal
What a treat to have the Sullys with us 2 weeks ago. We became close back in Canada as they pastored in Woodstock and were very involved in French ministry in Canada… our paths crossed often.
They are currently building the church in Senegal, but were in France to teach the weeklong seminar at Bible School in Melun. They’d planned to spend a bit of time touring while they were here, so they simply toured our way for a couple of days.

On Saturday night, I looked over and though how surreal it was to have them sitting in our living room! What a treat… they were a blessing to us and a blessing to our church family on Sunday morning.
Bible School

Speaking of Bible school, this was Dominic’s 1st week-long, summer, Bible School session.
He was asked to bring one of the morning devotion sessions and did a fine job. He represented Châtellerault well, and he represented the Lord well also.
He had been stressing all summer and working hard on preparing his 50 thesis questions, and that too went well. He came home breathing a sigh of relief and was glad for a bit of time to rest!
#VisionVienne
Last Sunday morning, we did another Prayer Walk Sunday in keeping with our Vision Vienne initiative. The weather was fine so we were able to get out and spend some time prayer walking through three communities in the greater Châtellerault area: Jaunay-Clan, Chasseneuil du Poitou and Dissay.

If you’d like to get a taste of what the day was like, you can take a look at the Instagram Reel that Timo put together, on the church’s IG.
Following our time of prayer, we headed to a picnic site just down from the castle in Dissay, along the Clain River, and enjoyed some kick-back time of lunch and fellowship together.
That’s all for today, thank you for visiting.
Let what you read inform your prayers for France and for us.
God bless you & yours today!
Most of the time here its no covers and a fan luckily we have good screens 🙂
I can always count on your posts to fill my heart with cheer-there is always a goodness -and in our very modern times , that is so refreshing.
