Today’s ornament is flowers & love…

A Crocheted Heart

We didn’t really do it on purpose… there was no real plan… it just sort of happened on its own somehow… We have a bit of a minor hearts & stars theme going on. I say theme… but even that’s too strong a word really. We just have a number of articles on the tree that are heart or star-shaped.

This is another ornament that was a gift for Liz one year. I assume it was a Pinterest find, just went back to find the pin and couldn’t. It’s possible that I just combined two pins… one for the heart and the other for the flower – honestly can’t remember.

Though the colours aren’t exactly festive, I still quite love it. Probably because of the handmade aspect and even, perhaps, because of the colours. The understated, rather neutral grey, is just simply not flashy. It harkens back to a simpler time – like the wooden ornaments on day 1… it was the thing itself… not the bling of the thing.

I don’t necessarily need everything to be crimson and forest green for Christmas. I don’t necessarily need bling. But something of quality, something real, something heart-felt (pardon the pun)… those things are just as important to me and anything… when it comes to people or things.

… and that’s today’s Christmas ornament.
