30 Days of Gratitude… 8

30 Days of Gratitude… 8

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again…

Declaring income tax in one country is bad enough.

Having to declare in two countries is a nightmare and not without anxiety.

French Income Tax is done… 1/2 way there!

It’s always a bit of a balancing act.

  • I need to declare in France, what I earn in Canada.
  • I need to declare in Canada, what I earn in France.

Fortunately, each country only claims taxes on the income derived in that country, but Canada … I gotta say… you tax us like bandits considering the governments services we consume. Our passports may as well be printed with gold-filigree paper.

That being said, I procrastinated as long as I could and today was the day. Now, once I get the summary statement from the French authorities, I’ll be able to file our Canadian taxes…. (and watch the maple-leafed-clad bandits walk away with an outrageous proportion of my earnings).

There’s always a huge sense of relief when this first part is done…
… and THAT’s, why I’m grateful today.
