30 Days of Gratitude… 18

Today was a tough day.

Temperatures reached 41˚C (106˚F) by about 6pm, and even at that… by midnight, it was still hovering around 31˚C (88˚F).

I’m a raised-by-the-east-coast boy were 27˚ was an average summer, and 31˚ was the odd heat-spike kind of day.

A Bit of a Birthday Party

Not only was the house ungodly hot, but it was also full of young adults having an absolutely wonderful time playing games (all indoors, because the heat made outdoor activities unthinkable)… including several friends that Dominic hadn’t seen since high school.

For a cross between a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) and a bit of an introvert on the edge of heat stroke… I was well & truly over-stimulated. Making it all the more of a blessing that Liz is an absolute trooper, in addition to a great cake-maker.

Dominic was an avid Lego man when he was young. Painstakingly and methodically, he went page by page through the instructions making a number of big Lego projects (some of which he’s hoping to, at some point, bring to France).

Hence the cake that Liz made for him. It’s a Lego head with a number of Lego bricks around the side, in white & dark chocolate, as well as red jello.

Grateful today for…

Dominic’s friends who made the trip up… and for Liz who, rain or shine, sleet or snow, frost or heat wave… always delivers!
