Todays cheese is known in France as:

“The cheese with the line in it”

Like yesterday’s cheese, Abondance, today’s mini coeur (mini-heart) cheese is one that we had last year.

In fact, not only was it the first cheese that we had last year as part of our Cheesy Christmas 2020, but it scored high with a 4.5/5 and comments like “there’s a taste of cider” and “it melts in your mouth”.

Like Day 10’s Abondance… we had high expectations.

Once again, expectations were high as we opened up today’s cheese as we had it last year on Day 20 of our Cheesy Christmas.

That time, we gave it a 4.1/5

Would we think as highly of it today?

There was no doubt as to whether or not this cheese would be a hit, after all, it’s goat cheese and that always goes down well in our house!

Timo is the biggest goat cheese fan, but the rest of us don’t have to have our arms twisted either…

Today’s cheese was another familiar cheese.

Not only is Reblochon one of the cheeses that we’d tasted last year (on day 5), but it’s also a cheese that used to make Tartiflette, a wonderfully winter dish that’ll warm your insides…

I won’t hide it… expectations were high for today’s cheese, because we’d had some Livarot in last year’s Cheesy Christmas parade of cheeses and it got high marks…

The pressure was on…

This particular cheese was one that we’d had last year as well, so on one hand there was a hint of familiarity.

What’s more, since we’d just had a séchon de brebis on Day 4, I was reminded of the fact that not only this year, on day 4, but also last year, we’d had trouble finding information on the word séchon.

But let’s dig into the cheese…

Today’s the day that Christmas came to our house.

As is often the case on Sundays, we dinner was the big meal of the day, after church, and Liz’s beef bourgignon was a treat that made onset of the Sunday afternoon nap come even more quickly.

When we awoke, it was time to set the tree up…

Tonight was one of those “Everybody fend for themselves for supper” kind of nights. Lots of leftovers (or “must-go^_s” as my mom calls them), so getting everyone together for Cheesy day 4, didn’t happen quite as organically as it does most nights.

… but it did happen, so here we go.

We saw the first honest-to-goodness snowflakes fall from the sky. Of course nothing lasted because there’s been no frost to speak of, meaning that they melted almost as soon as they’d hit the ground.

It didn’t stop Sophie from posting about it on her Instagram along with Michael Bublé’s “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas”… (that might be a real stretch… but when you’ve gone as long as we have without seeing a good snowfall, you take what you can get).
