A can of Canada Dry, served in a white paper cup, proudly emblazoned with a red maple leaf… Hello Air Canada, thanks for bringing us “home”. It sounds weird to say that because “HOME-home” is Canada, but “small-h home” is France. At least for now.
OK y’all… it’s already past 1:30 Saturday morning (Indiana time) and I’m gonna get through today’s post then get myself to bed!

Seems to me I said it two years ago, but I’ll say it again. The national holiday – even in a small town – is pretty special here. Fireworks set to music with a 400 year old bridge and her two towers as a backdrop and we got to be within only a couple hundred feet.
Inukshuks are stone piles, usually in the shape of a man, that mark a location and originated with Arctic cultures. Back home (though far from the Arctic), it’s not uncommon to see small make-shift inukshuks on the side of the highway, made by random passers-by who wish to leave a trace of their passage. The rock piles in this picture are on the eastern-most tip of l’île de Ré (Ré Island). They’re not in the shape of a man… but they were no doubt built with the same goal in mind: Beach goers stacked them as a way to mark their passage.

On Thursday, our firstborn turned 17 and we celebrated another year of God’s faithfulness in her life, and another year of blessing in ours.

Today, our second child and first son, Dominic turns 15. His name means “Belonging to God” and to watch him pray at the altar with others and respond in worship encourages us that he is living up to his name. May he daily discover and rediscover the love of a Father that is much greater than that of his earthly father and may that carry him throughout his entire life.

Liz stepped one step closer to the limelight this past weekend (a place she generally avoids) by helping out with the national Bible Quizzing finals. Here you can see her pictured with the coach from Arras (Sofiath Agba) and judge Marion Nowacki (also the national Sunday School coordinator).
