#3GoodThings – #44

Believe it or not, preaching doesn’t come easy to me – it’s surprising to me too, being a teacher & speaking in front of people all the time. Still, I stress about it and worry, right up until I get into church and begin to feel God’s presence through worship.

Once service is done it always feels like a weight has lifted. Spiritually, I guess that is the case, so I can feel a little more relaxed about sharing…

The kids’ vacation is winding down – it’s difficult to believe that it’s already been almost two weeks! – so we find ourselves trying to sneak in a few little “moments” with them over and above the light nagging (“Make sure your homework’s done.”, “We could use your help with “this” or “that”, etc.).

Today was one of those days that saw a bit of both… but it ended in the best way! Let me tell you about…

It occurred to me today, while driving to Angers, that though the drive is long and can be monotonous by times, I do enjoy it. It serves as clear-my-head time, prayer time, allows me to see beautiful countryside, sunrises, sunsets and vineyards at different stages of growth (right now they’re still pruning last year’s growth in preparation for the new growth season that’s right around the corner.)

I’ll admit… though I started the day with a hot chocolate… I moved quickly to coffee and enjoyed it on the drive to Angers. All in all though… today was a great day!

Let me tell you about…

#3GoodThings – #37

Hello Sunday. Hello you. How was your day?

For many back home, Sundays are busy days. Many people I know attend two church services… some, more than that (#HelloStLaurentUPC). For many French people, Sundays are either (a) sports involvement with kids or for themselves or (b) pure leisure. Our Sundays run right down the middle. We have service in the morning and periodically do some visiting in the afternoon. It’s a bit of a happy medium between both worlds.

So on that note, let me tell you about…

#3GoodThings – #36

(Written Feb. 23, 2019)

Once upon a sunny Saturday… hard to believe that it’s the last Saturday of February as I write this.

When I originally started this #3GoodThings series, I envisioned it to be a 40-day experiment. Depending on who you ask, “they” seem to say that it takes somewhere between 30 and 40 days to build a habit – hence my initial goal.

Now, however, as I see day 40 fast approaching, I find myself wondering whether I’ll keep going or leave it at that original number. Hmmm… TBD.

In the meantime, here are..
