Happy:
Liz & I spent a wonderful few days celebrating our anniversary in Paris, while our kids enjoyed a few days with friends about 1.5hr south of here. It’s rare for us to be separated, but it was good for all of us.
Sad:
It was upon our return from Paris, on Thursday, that we found out about yet another Terror-related attack in France. Two radicalized young men brutally killed an 83 year-old priest as he officiated mass in a small church in Normandy.
Remember two weeks ago when I told you that we were heading up to preach in Melun and the Headquarters Church? Well from there we took a few days off and headed up to Liz’s parents’ in Belgium for a bit of rest & relaxation. We were there when we heard of last week’s attack in Nice.
Yet again… France has been struck by an attack designed to kill innocents and strike fear in the hearts of the rest of the nation. The date: July 14th – France’s National Holiday (like US’s July 4th or Canada Day)… Crowds were gathered in city squares & parks all over the country and in Nice, the crowd was diminished by 84 lives immediately following the end of the fireworks display.
There was no shortage of excitement Tuesday as the 103rd Tour de France whizzed through Châtellerault, not even a 5-min walk from our house. Needless to say, school was put on hold for Dominic & Soph and we headed just one street over when we saw crowds begin to gather. Continue reading
Two weeks ago was Dominic, last week was Soph, and today it’s my birthday. Not only that but I get to spend it in France… How blessed am I!? Continue reading
